Day Ten: Majesty

vandaliafumc

God, Thank You for Your Majesty.

God, thank You for Your majesty. As the song says, Majesty, worship His majesty! You are great beyond measure, and Your power is evident in all creation.

What comes to mind when you think of the majesty of God? I think of something vast, powerful, and awe-inspiring—so great it humbles me. I see it in creation, in power, in grace, and in the presence of God. Some of these overlap, and all are worth deeper reflection.

Today, I reflect on how I see Your majesty not just in creation’s gentle beauty but also in its raw, untamed power. The greening of the grass, the budding of trees, the songs of birds—signs of new life and renewal—exist within a greater system, one that also includes wind, rain, and storms. As we anticipate windy weather, I think about how we speak of God in the midst of storms and natural disasters.

I see God’s power in the force of a thunderstorm, in winds that shape landscapes, in a seed pushing through the earth to become a mighty tree. There’s a holy wildness in nature, a reminder that God’s ways are beyond my control. (There’s also a caveat about humanity’s role in shaping the weather.)

I see God’s grace in love that transforms, in mercy extended when undeserved, in Christ’s sacrifice—both the deepest sorrow and greatest victory. There is majesty in humility, in the paradox of strength revealed through surrender. And in neighbors helping neighbors to restore order after the storm.

I see God’s presence in quiet moments of peace that defy the chaos, in light shining through darkness, in hope that refuses to be extinguished—and certainly in the calm after the storm.

It’s hard to hold gratitude in the face of destruction. When storms rage, when floods rise, when winds tear down what we have built, beauty feels distant. But I want to trust that You are near. The Bible promises that God walks with us through the storms of life—so can I also see Your majesty in the literal storms?  The easiest way is maybe to go to the beginning. The greening of the grass, the budding of trees, the songs of birds—signs of new life and renewal—exist within a greater system, one that also includes wind, rain, and storms.

The howling wind also carries seeds to new places. The flooding rain also nourishes the land. Storms bring destruction, but in their wake come renewal, calm, and even opportunities to be good neighbors.

God, give me eyes to see Your presence even in the chaos, to trust You as the One who restores. Thank You for being with us in all seasons—both in the sun and in the storm.

The majesty of God is in the wonder, the mystery, the power, and the love that holds everything together.

How about you? What stirs a sense of God’s majesty in your heart?
