Daily Scripture: Acts 10:24-48
Embracing God's Inclusive Love
A Roman centurion and a Jew walk into a bar.... sounds like a joke right? It would have been in Jesus’s day, because they didn’t interact, certainly in the Roman’s (Gentiles) home.
In Acts 10:24-48, we witness a profound moment of divine revelation. Peter, a devout Jew, came to the house of Cornelius, a Roman centurion. It was a meeting of two worlds, separated by cultural and religious barriers. Yet, God had a powerful message to deliver: His love knows no bounds.
As Peter spoke, the Holy Spirit fell upon Cornelius and his household, just as it had with the Jewish believers at Pentecost. It was an awakening to the truth that God's salvation is for everyone, regardless of their background or heritage.
In our lives, we sometimes build walls around our hearts, excluding those who are different from us. But Acts 10 reminds us that God's love is inclusive and expansive. He calls us to embrace people of all nations, races, and backgrounds with the same love He has poured upon us.
Prayer for the day:
Dear God, Thank you for your boundless love that knows no boundaries. Teach us to see others through your eyes, to break down the walls of prejudice and judgment, and to embrace all people as our brothers and sisters in Christ. Just as you revealed your truth to Peter and Cornelius, open our hearts to the diversity of your creation. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
